Elgin is a lush valley surrounded by mountains. Orchards, vineyards, and olive groves cover the rolling hills. The area is renowned for the apples and pears grown here and the elegant wines it produces.
Elgin offers much by way of outdoor adventure. Activities on offer include hiking, biking, quadbiking, wine tasting and water skiing. There is a network of mountain biking trails for cyclists of varying skills.
The Elgin Valley Meaner winds past wine farms, farm stalls, the Apple Musuem, the Oude Molen Distillery and some of Elgin’s best viewing spots. Visitors can marvel at the landscapes during the Elgin Open Gardens held during October and November each year.
