Cullinan

Cullinan

Cullinan is situated in the north-east corner of Gauteng, 30km east of Pretoria and approximately 90km from Johannesburg.

Originally a mining town, Cullinan is famous for the 1905 discovery of the Cullinan Diamond – then the largest diamond ever found. The Cullinan Diamond Mine is still the third most productive mine in South Africa. The mine museum and historical village offers a glimpse into the operations and history of the mine and the town.

With its period buildings and jacaranda-lined streets, the town remains a remnant of the Edwardian era.
