The Natal Midlands is located in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province, inland from Durban and between the city of Pietermaritzburg and the Drakensberg Mountains. The Midlands is known for its genteel country feel and quaint towns including Howick, Merrivale, Hilton, Lions river, Dargle, Lidgetton, Balgowan, Nottingham Road, Rosetta and Mooi River. Many visitors are attracted to the Midlands by the restaurants, arts and crafts on offer, but younger visitors are more excited by the outdoor activities available. These include:
